Second Rough Idea Draft

Image
For this idea, I wanted to use a warmer colour palette which would still be sinister. The story for this thriller show would be a haunted darkroom because the old owner of it was a murderer and this role of the detective (which is usually seen in thrillers) is pushed upon the new owner. I wanted to use a simple but chilling font that was typical to other thriller poster and I used the white to make it stand out from the background. The opacity on the face is turned down to replicate what a memory would look like. The ITVX logo is important as viewers will know where to find the product.

Statement of Intent

The ASA is a company that regulates UK advertising making sure it complies with rules in place to protect people and show them safe adverts that are genuine and have the correct information for example the ASA says that there can be no graphic violence and gore on non-broadcast (posters and billboards) adverts. In 2022, it dealt with over 33,350 ads which over 31,227 were changed or removed entirely. My print will have to follow these rules as it will be in public in bus stops where anyone who uses the public transport will be able to see it including children who don’t want to be exposed to anything graphic as they could be easily frightened. Though there is no broadcasting time on the product as it is exclusively a streaming service show there will be warnings before the show begins and it will probably be rated by the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) helping people decide if this is right to view for them. Following these rules will be important to the company, in this ...

First Idea Rough Draft

Image
For this rough draft, I wanted to follow the typical theme of a detective and her partner solving crimes along the coast while giving characters an emotional reaction to these crimes as they are similar to what happened to a family member. This creates drama and also gives meaning to the title. The font used was on Adobe's website for Photoshop fonts and doing some research the font had been used in other thriller posters. The characters having opposing looks and clothes create a sense of conflict which will draw the audience in. The ITVX logo is important to know where it can be streamed.

Thriller Poster Analysis and Genre Research

Image
Poster one: The Killing Kind This poster draws attention to the woman on the right side of the poster with the popping colour of the red umbrella and following the eyeline of the man on the left. Though there is a crowd in the photo, two characters stand out purposely as the man does not have an umbrella at all the women has her pop of colour whereas the crowd covers their faces with their black umbrella and brown coats revealing that these are the probably the titular characters of the narrative. The women wears clothes that blend in with what the crowd is wearing with her brown trench coat matching others portraying the man as strange and different. There is a lot of visible rain in the foreground setting the mood as perhaps eerie and unsettling. The fonts of the text mostly stay the same apart from the colours and size though the logo is right at the bottom using cursive and white standing out from the background. The main title has a blur effect use to it like it is the rain ...
